Jim Fedorich announced a change of our annual banquet date to February 21st, 2015.  Jim and Ron Leoni were going to meet with the Elk’s chef to discuss the menu for the Annual Banquet.

It was decided by the membership to have the prizes for this year’s annual fundraising raffle to be gift cards in the amounts of: $500 – 1st, $200 – 2nd, $100 – 3rd, $100 – 4th and $100 – 5th.

On November 25th, Avon Orvis will host a talk by Tom Rosenbaur from 6:30-8:30 PM.  Tom was Fly Rod and Reel’s “Angler of the year 2011”.

Tracey Brown was looking to write a grant request to remove a dam on the Macedonia Brook and she wanted our chapter of TU to back her.  The membership thought this was a good idea.  Tracey should be at our Christmas party so she can give us more details then,

Jim announced there is still $17,000 available from the GE PCP fund to benefit the Housatonic River.  Tracey and Ed Meisling are to look at a project of a log jam at the discharge of Furnace Brook to help protect the cooler water.

Jim was looking to propose a project plan for the Naugatuck River Boulder Project Phase II.  Due to the resources required, and the fact the river gets so warm and low in the summer, the membership thought this project should be put on hold.

Starting with our January meeting, based on a suggestion from Joe Cieslowski, we will be conducting little mini topics or events at the meeting to help stimulate member interest.  In January, we will have a one fly swap, favorite knots, and a Q&A.  This will be in addition to our regular meeting and a speaker.

Other mini topics discussed were: fly of the night, book report, do it yourself, ideas for storing gear, ideas for transporting gear, vest inventory, tips and tricks, favorite fishing techiques, Q&A roundtable, home stream waters, etc..  Feel free to bring your thoughts on some topics to help make the meetings more enjoyable.

The meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.

The December meeting will be held on Tuesday December 2nd, 2014 at 7:30 PM downstairs at the Elks Club in Torrington.  There will be no official program for the evening as this is our annual Christmas Party.  There will be free food and soft drinks to all members and their guests.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Hart
