Minutes of Meeting

November 3, 2015

The November meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club by President Jim Fedorich.  There were thirteen attendees. 

The Secretary’s Report for October was given by Secretary Bob Hart and was accepted as read.

The Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Bill Richie.  There is $3408.45 in our treasury with $150 slated for TIC.  The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Bob Orciari reported on the October 10^th fishing outing at the Housatonic River. It was attended by 6 fisherman and they enjoyed good success.  A suggestion was made from the floor to hold the fishing event in the spring for better attendance.

Dick Heffernon reported on the TIC.  We spent $120 on supplies and will be picking up this year’s eggs on November 17^th.  Dick reported the Kent School dropped out of the program but Torrington is looking to start up.  Dick will see if Kent would be willing to sell or donate their equipment to Torrington.

Jim and Bill Richie completed and sent off the annual financial report to TU National.

We held our election of officers.  There was a motion that was accepted to have the Secretary cast a single vote to elect the nominated slate.  The Officers and Committee members for 2015-2016 are as follows:

Congratulations to the new officers and chair people, and a thanks to last year’s officers and chairs for all the hard work they put in to the chapter!

We then reviewed and set dates for our upcoming year.  Meetings will be held on:

          December 1^st – Christmas Party

          January 5^th – TBD

          February 2^nd – TBD

          February 13^th – Annual Banquet

          March 1^st – TBD

          April 5^th –

          May 3^rd – TBD

          June 7^th – TBD

          September 11^th (Sunday) – Annual Picnic

Jim began a discussion on changing the location of our monthly meetings.  There had been some negative comments regarding the Elks booking upstairs from under us, forcing our meetings to be held in the noisy bar room.  We will look at the possibility of meeting in the upstairs meeting room.

Scott Richie was to look at an inexpensive DVD/Projector so we could play DVDs as programs for our monthly meetings, saving us money.

Joe Cislowski presented a pamphlet on a program for disabled veterans

titled “Back in the Maine Stream”.  Joe was looking to see if the State TU chapters would be interested in participating.  After discussion, Joe will be looking into some basic information on the program.

We had a brief discussion on the menu for our annual banquet.  Jim mentioned the cost of the food will be $40 this year.

We held a quick fly swap tonight and 50/50 raffle.  The raffle was won by Bob Orciari with a pot of $30.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.

Our December meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 1st , 2015 at 7:30 PM downstairs at the Torrington Elks Club.  This will be our Annual Christmas Party.
