Minutes of Meeting

November 6, 2012

 

The November meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club by President Jim Fedorich.  There were ten attendees.

 

The Secretary’s report for October was read by Secretary Bob Hart and was accepted as read.

 

The Treasurer’s Report was read by Treasurer Evan Williams.  There is currently $1855.29 in the checkbook, of which $250 is slated for TIC.  The treasurer’s report was accepted.

 

We discussed upcoming expenses and incomes for the chapter so Bob Hart could finalize a Chapter Budget for the 2012-2013 year.

 

Dick Heffernon reported our chapter currently is supporting six area schools for TIC (Trout in the Classroom).  He and Evan will be delivering trout eggs to those schools on November 20th.

 

Dick also brought up from the last State Council meeting, that Tracey Brown discussed using GE grant monies to work on projects on the Salmon Kill River.

 

Jim announced tickets were now available for the 3 framed River Pictures to be raffled off as a club fund raiser.  Tickets are available from any of the officers and the drawing will be held at our Christmas party on December 4th.

 

The Farmington Valley Chapter will be holding its annual tag sale on Wednesday, November 7th from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Senior Center in Unionville.  Please attend if you are interested in buying or selling any fishing equipment.

 

Jim reported he and Evan sent out the Chapter financial report ahead of the 11/15 deadline.

 

Jim discussed the upcoming annual banquet to be held February 2nd.  We reviewed some possible changes to the menu and Jim and Evan will finalize them with the chef.  Tickets are being printed for the main raffle.  There will be five prizes consisting of gift certificates to Upcountry Sports Fishing, Housatonic River Outfitters and Autumn Gun Works.  There will be three colorized framed pictures of the Naugatuck, Farmington and Housatonic Rivers to be auctioned off.  Card game prizes will be a muzzleloader with scope, a nice rod and reel outfit , and a compound bow.  It was also mentioned members should start soliciting donations now for the bucket raffles.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.

 

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 4th downstairs at the Torrington Elks Club at 7:30 PM.  This will be our Annual Christmas Party and there will be free food and soft drinks with a cash bar.  Hope to see you there.
