Minutes of Meeting

December 3, 2013

The December meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM downstairs at the Torrington Elks Club by Acting President Jim Fedorich.  There were twenty-seven attendees.

This was our annual Christmas party and a motion was made and carried to dispense with the regular business portion of the meeting.  However, Jim Fedorich did bring up several announcements.

Jim gave us information on our upcoming Annual Sportsmen’s Dinner Fundraiser to be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Torrington Elks Club.  The menu and information sheet have been printed up and are available from Jim if anyone is interested in posting them.  Dinner tickets will be available shortly and will be $40 per ticket.  Seating will be at tables set up for eight people to help with the flow of food.

Raffle tickets are available now for $5.00/ticket with only 300 tickets printed.  There are 5 prizes in the form of gift certificates: 1st - $250 Upcountry Sports, 2nd - $200 Housatonic River Outfitters, 3rd – Newbury Archery, 4th – Autumn Gun Works, 5th – Housatonic River Outfitters.

Jim also reported there was a meeting earlier today at Torrington City Hall to kick off the new boulder project on the Naugatuck River.  The plan is to locate 100 large boulders in the river from the Memorial Bridge to Toro Park.  These rocks will provide shelter for trout, as well as setting up currents to help scrub the silt from the river bottom.

The rest of the evening was spent with good food, good drink and good company.  All enjoyed the evening.

Our January meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club.  The program for the evening is still to be determined.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Hart
