NW CT Chapter of Trout Unlimited Minutes of Meeting April 1, 2014
The April meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club by Acting President Jim Fedorich. There were eighteen attendees.
The Secretary’s Report for March was given by Secretary Bob Hart and was accepted as read.
The Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Evan Williams. There is $3881.14 in our treasury with $150 slated for TIC. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.
Bob Hart reported the Northwestern Connecticut Sportsmans’ Council donated $389.00 to help defray half the cost of a backup generator for our TIC project. Bob sent out a thank you acknowledgement.
TU National sent $135 to our chapter as a payment for signing up 9 new members this past year.
Jim discussed the training on the Culvert Inventorying Program. We are still waiting for Ed Machowski of the CT DEEP to get back to us with dates once the weather gets a little warmer.
Anyone interested in either the president’s or treasurer’s positions, please submit your name to Jim Fedorich.
Pauline Krofssik mentioned this year’s “Women Gone Wild” day will be held at the Harwinton Fish and Game Club on June 1st. She also mentioned the “Casting for Recovery” will be held June 20-22. She is trying to line up a good location for the fishing section of the event in close proximity to the Wisdom House, as there will be limited time to travel too far.
The 8th Annual Naugatuck River Cleanup will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2014 from 9 AM to noon, meeting at the Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert Street in Torrington. The cleanup is being sponsored jointly by our club, the City of Torrington and the Torrington Conservation Commission.
Jim Fedorich announced the joint picnic with the Farmington Valley Chapter of TU will be held on Saturday, September 13th at the Matthies Grove picnic area on the Farmington River.
The program for the evening was a presentation by Tim Barry, CT DEEP. Tim gave us an update on the studies of the Farmington River and the Farmington River Brown Trout.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM.
Our May meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club. The program for the evening is TBD.
