NW CT Chapter of Trout Unlimited

Minutes of Meeting

April 7, 2015

The April meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club by President Jim Fedorich.  There were twelve attendees.

The Secretary’s Report for March was given by Secretary Bob Hart and was accepted as read.

The Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Bill Richie.  There is $4965.98 in our treasury with $150 slated for TIC.  The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Jim reported the Board of Directors approved sending a $200 check to help stock the Kid’s Fishing Derby to be held in Riverton on Opening Day.

The Annual Naugatuck River cleanup will be held on Saturday, June 6th in conjunction with the Torrington Conservation Commission.  It will run from 9:00 AM to noon, meeting at the Sullivan Senior Center in Torrington.  As usual, our club will provide the food and drink for the attendees.  There will be an additional cleanup this year on September 19th.

The Women Gone Wild Day will be held this year on Sunday, June 7th at the Harwinton Rod and Gun Club.  We will be asked to do a fly casting demonstration only this year.

Jim announced he will be looking at the condition of the fly lines for our fly casting rods.  He will pick up replacement lines for any that are needed.

Ron Leoni will chair a committee with Joe Cieslowski to look at potential fishing trips or outings in the Spring and/or Fall.  They will concentrate on local trips now, with the possibility of some out-of-state trips in the future.  Jim asked that they bring some suggestions to the May meeting.

The Regional TU Meeting will be held in June this year in Providence, Rhode Island.  The State Council and our Chapter will kick in some money to help with expenses.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Jim.

We held a quick fly swap and raffle tonight.

The program for this evening was a demonstration by Pat Peet on making furled leaders.  This was a very interesting evening, not only on how to make a good leader at home, but demonstrating a technique that had its roots in the old horse hair and silk leaders of the past.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.

Our May meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 5th , 2015 at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club.

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Hart
