NW CT Chapter of Trout Unlimited Minutes of Meeting May 1, 2012
The May meeting was called to order by Vice-President Ron Leoni at 7:45 PM at the Torrington Elks Club. Six people were in attendance.
The Secretary’s Report for April was read by Secretary Bob Hart and was accepted as read.
The Treasurer’s Report was read by Bob Hart. There is currently $3734.10 in our checkbook, of which $250 is tagged for the TIC program. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.
Our club received a request to donate to Casting for Recovery. We donated $150 last year and a motion was made and passed to donate $150 again this year.
We reviewed the results of our annual fundraising banquet held on April 14th. There were 122 people who attended. Financially, we spent $6,856.18 and took in $8,423.00 yielding a profit of $1,566.82. The food and the prizes (see website for list of prize winners) were very good and everyone seemed to have a good time. Thanks to the Elks and to all those who contributed, for making the banquet a success.
The Naugatuck River cleanup will be held on Saturday, June 2nd from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Sullivan Senior Center. We are looking for volunteers from the Club to help with setup, cooking, guiding cleanup crews, etc.
The Women Gone Wild Day will be held on Sunday, June 3rd at the Harwinton Rod and Gun Club. Our Club will be holding fly Tying demonstrations and Fly Casting instructions for the event. Any volunteers can contact Jim.
Casting for Recovery will be held on Sunday, August 5th. We can use volunteers to help out with instruction of the participants.
The Annual Duck Day is coming up soon. Unfortunately, the exact date was not available at the time of printing these minutes.
A discussion of next year’s banquet generated a date of February 2nd, with February 22nd as a backup. Ron will check with neighboring clubs to make sure there are no conflicts and also with the Elks to check on availability of the Elks on either of those two days.
Our next meeting is scheduled for June 5th at the Torrington Elks Club in Torrington, Connecticut at 7:30 PM. The program for the evening will be announced.
