Jim announced our chapter received a $500 grant from the Friends of the Naugatuck River.  This is to be split up $250 for the annual Naugatuck River cleanup and $250 for the Torrington Conservation Commission project.

Jim discussed the training on the Culvert Inventorying Program.  We are still waiting for Ed Machowski of the CT DEEP to get back to us with dates, but the project may get delayed as a result of budget cuts.

This year’s “Women Gone Wild” day was held at the Harwinton Fish and Game Club on June 1st.  There were 98 participants and our club provided fly casting and fly tying demonstrations.  Everyone appeared to have a good time for a worthwhile benefit.

The 8th Annual Naugatuck River Cleanup will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2014 from 9 AM to noon, meeting at the Sullivan Senior Center, 88 East Albert Street in Torrington.  The cleanup is being sponsored jointly by our club, the City of Torrington and the Torrington Conservation Commission.

The Annual TU Regional Meeting will be held at Stowe, Vermont on June 6-8.  The State Council is appropriating money to help defray the costs of the event which is $125 per person.  Anyone interested should contact Jim Fedorich.

The “Casting for Recovery” event will be held June 20-22.  We will need volunteers for fly casting on the 22nd from 10:00 AM til Noon at Doc Schlildgen’s.

Jim Fedorich announced the joint picnic with the Farmington Valley Chapter of TU will be held on Saturday, September 13th at the Matthies Grove picnic area on the Farmington River.  Bill Case is checking on the pavilion availability.

The Citizen’s Advisory Council (CAC) is looking to salt in Reservoir Bass into lakes to help resident bass change their feeding habits to feed during the day.

Bill Richie has accepted the position of Treasurer for the balance of this year and going forward into next year.

The meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.

This was our last scheduled monthly meeting for the summer.  Look forward to fliers and our website to get information on next fall’s schedule.  And plan on attending the picnic on September 13th.  Until then, tight lines to all!

Respectfully submitted,

Bob Hart
