Minutes of Meeting

June 7, 2011

The June meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club by President Jim Fedorich.  Seven people were in attendance. 

The Secretary’s Report for May was read by Secretary Bob Hart and was accepted as read.

The Treasurer’s Report was given by Evan Williams. There is currently $1781.04 in our checkbook, of which $200 is tagged for the TIC program.  The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Bob Hart reported the club by-laws as given to us by TU National did not need to be modified and ratified by the Club until the end of the calendar year

The Naugatuck River Cleanup held on June 4^th was a success.  It was good to see the river did not have anywhere near the amount of trash it had in previous years.  At least 35 people joined in to pull out enough trash to fill an 8 cubic yard dumpster.  Our club again provided the food and drink for the volunteers.  The total cost to our club for this was approximately $100.

Evan Williams announced our participation in the Annual Duck Day held on June 5^th.  He mentioned he had contact with Melissa Brutting, a 6^th grade teacher at the Litchfield Intermediate School.  Melissa is interested in partnering with us to establish a TIC (Trout in the Classroom) program in her class.  Evan will follow up with her to see how we can get them started.  Evan will also contact some Litchfield banks for financial support.

A reminder on two upcoming events – the “Women Gone Wild” Day at the Harwinton Rod and Gun Club on June 25^th and the New England TU Regional Meeting on July 29^th.  Jim Fedorich can provide details on either.

Jim Fedorich announced a summer raffle to help benefit our club.  Prizes are a shotgun for first, a framed color print of the map of the Naugatuck River for second, and a color print of the Naugatuck River map for third.  There are only 100 tickets available at $10 each and the drawing will be held on October 4^th, 2011.  Tickets are available from any of the Club officers.

This was our last meeting of the 2010-2011 year.  Our next meeting will be in September for our picnic.  Be on the lookout for additional information in a mailing in a couple of months.  Until we meet again, have a great summer and “tight lines” to all.
