NW CT Chapter of Trout Unlimited Minutes of Meeting October 5, 2010
The October meeting was opened at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club by Vice President Ron Leoni. Seventeen people were in attendance.
The Secretary’s report for June was read by Secretary Bob Hart and accepted as read.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Jim Fedorich and was accepted as read. There is currently $1913.44 in our treasury.
The balance of the year’s schedule was announced as: October 5th Michael Motyl - “Fishing Lake Ontario Tributaries” November 2nd Shawn Britton - Fly tying December 7th Christmas Party @ Torrington Elks, free event
We held our picnic on September 11th in conjunction with the Farmington Valley Chapter in the People’s State Forrest, Matthies Grove picnic area. Orvis representatives were also present and held a casting clinic as well as a talk on insect entomology. There was plenty of good food and drink and all 70 people who attended had a good time. We look forward to sharing our picnic with the Farmington Valley Chapter again next year.
Jim Fedorich reminded people the date for our annual fundraising banquet will be February 12th. This will again be a game dinner to be held at the Torrington Elks Club.
Jim reminded the attendees Housatonic River Outfitters was holding a game dinner on October 17th at Woodridge Lake Boathouse to benefit the rainbow trout stocking of the Housatonic River. Jim announced there were still enough tickets left for one more table.
Farmington River Chapter of TU will be holding a tag sale on November 3rd, the night after our November meeting, at the Farmington Community/Senior Center, 319 New Britain Avenue in Unionville. Our chapter has been invited to sell and buy items at that sale. Anyone interested in selling should contact Bill Case. Doors will open at 5:00 PM for exhibitors and 6:00 PM for buyers.
Nominations
for officers for 2010-2011 were closed and elections were held. A
motion was made and passed for the Secretary to cast one ballot for the slate
of officers. The elected officers for 2010-2011 are as follows:
Congratulations to the new officers and our thanks to the officers and chairmen who served during 2009-2010.
The program for this evening was a slide presentation and discussion by Michael Motyl on “Fishing the Lake Ontario Tributaries in Oswego County”. Michael’s presentation focused on both salmon and steelhead. He discussed the types of equipment to use, the various techniques, and the types of water you will run in to.
The meeting adjourned at 9:50 PM.
The November monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 at 7:30 PM at the Torrington Elks Club. The program for the November meeting will be a fly tying demonstration by Shawn Britton, club member and professional fly tyer.
